Mmmh, not much more than what everyone knows: the Consortium built it a little over 400 years ago… before ditching us. Took a while for people to notice it was starting to fall apart.

Gotta say, folks back then weren’t exactly used to questioning scientific authorities. How could they have guessed the Consortium had built a hollow shell? 

The plan seemed simple: build the Gate, head to Hope, set up the second Gate in orbit, and start a colony down there…

But there’s not a shred of tech in the Gate… it was just a cruel decoy, meant to dazzle us while they took off with whatever we had left.
